Question by Spyder2122: Roofing contract insurance fraud legal definition?
A roofing company writes a contract to re-roof a house for the total amount of an insurance settlement plus the amount of the home owner’s deductible. Then the roofing company writes a second and separate contract for advertising that would be fulfilled by placing a sign in the customer’s yard for a specified period of time. The advertising contract is to pay the homeowner an amount equal to the amount of the homeowners deductible from the first contract. Is this insurance fraud or not?

No , it`s not .

The insurance company is not responsible for the deductible no matter how the contract is worded . The insurance company pays the amount of the settlement , and that`s IT !

You are responsible for the deductible .

What the roofing company is doing is charging the deductible to you , then paying you the exact same amount for advertising on your property .

There`s nothing illegal or fraudulent about it ……………..

You could contact your insurance company about it , but they`ll tell you the same thing ………….
